New success for BBI in Myanmar with the extension of the Star City development.

With BYMA teams preparing to deliver from March 2015 the first project of Bouygues Batiment International in Myanmar, on 18 December, the company concluded a major new contract in Rangoon.

An extension of the previous site, Star City C1 Zone is a design-construction project for 6 residential buildings which will include 956 housing units, from studio flat to penthouse. Four complexes will peak out at 82 metres (25 floors), with the other 2 at 91 metres (28 floors). The contract also makes provision for car-parking facilities with 1,147 spaces on 2 levels, as well as a club house, a local community building, development of green spaces and the construction of a swimming-pool and leisure activity area.

The excellent commercial relationship which has developed between Dragages Singapore and its client Thanlyin Estate Development (TED) has clearly been the springboard to this new success, all the more important since Star City developments are set to continue. Work in the C1 zone will extend over 35 months. The contract is worth around $US125M for the BYMA Joint Venture, involving Dragages Singapore (60%) and the SPA Group (40%). All this heralds well for our company’s lasting presence in Myanmar, with the possibility of other projects seeing the light of day this year.

The first of the 5 residential buildings at Star City Zone B is being completed.
